Seacon Logistics acquires ICT GmbH

PRESS RELEASE, 21 December 2011 - The Seacon Logistics Group acquired ICT GmbH, located in Neuss, Germany, on 15 December. Founded in 1972, family-owned ICT (International Container Transport) is a worldwide shipping company and operates from multiple branches in five countries. It was looking for a trustworthy partner that would guarantee its business continuity, identity, and jobs. The company’s employees (a permanent workforce of 90) will continue their work under the name ICT GmbH.

ICT GmbH has developed into a major shipping company with a worldwide network of branches and agents. It was founded in 1972 in Neuss and has a total of five branches in Germany.  It also has branches in Turkey, India, the USA and the Netherlands.  The take-over specifically concerns the company’s overseas forwarding activities and road haulage to Eastern Europe. The branches located in Belarus, Lithuania, Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan, which are part of ICT Beteiligungs GmbH, are not included in the take-over. Vice president Hendrik Rigtering will continue in his present capacity after the take-over. “It’s a good move to aim for economies of scale in today’s dynamic international market, and by transitioning to the Seacon Logistics Group we’ll be able to improve our level of customer service and expand our range of services,” says Mr Rigtering. “The fact that Seacon Logistics is a family firm, has a stable financial basis and a global network fits in perfectly with the strategy and continuity that ICT GmbH envisages.”

Based in Venlo-Blerick in the Netherlands, Seacon Logistics celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2010 and has been through several periods of growth. Seacon Logistics is a marine supply-chain manager. Its strategy is to develop logistical activities at multimodal locations that can be accessed by water, rail and road. By acquiring ICT, Seacon Logistics has extended its worldwide coverage and has representatives in more countries. The company now has more than 700 employees working around the globe.  “Acquiring ICT will improve our control of the supply chain in specific markets in Europe and worldwide. It is another step in our bid to transform ourselves from a local party active worldwide into a global player active worldwide,” says Seacon’s managing director Corné Geerts.
